Answers for the engineer evaluating battery backup for GPU infrastructure
Who manufactures the battery cells used in your OEM modules, and how secure is the supply chain?
The LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells are manufactured by Narada Power Source (Zhejiang Narada Power Source Co., Ltd.), established in 1994 and one of the largest global producers of LFP cells. MPI performs the North American assembly, certification, and quality assurance, backed by two decades of North American operations. Detailed supply-chain documentation is available to procurement teams under NDA.
What BMS communication protocols are supported for integrating your modules into our system?
The NESP platform supports standard industrial protocols including CAN, Modbus, and RS485 across its module (BMU), rack (BCMU), and system (BAMS) BMS layers, allowing integration with EMS, SCADA, and PLC controllers. The MPLhE UPS system uses a DC self-powered BMS with breaker-standard BMS-controlled contactors and dry-contact alarming for UPS charge and discharge control. BMS functions include monitoring, state-of-charge and state-of-health estimation, discharge control, thermal management, fault diagnosis, balancing, and protection.
What certifications do your battery systems carry for North American deployment?
The MPLhE high-power UPS system is certified to UL1973 (system) and UL1964, with UL1642/UL1973 cell-level listing, and is UL9540A tested with no thermal runaway or propagation. It is also UN38 compliant, IEC 62619 certified, RoHS and REACH compliant, and seismically tested and certified to CBC/IBC Zone 4 (IF 1.5). The NESP platform is designed and tested to UL and IEC standards including UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1973, and IEC 62619.
Can you support custom or private-label builds, and how scalable is the supply for OEM volume?
Yes. MPI provides cell-to-system integration and private-label custom battery solutions for OEM partners, with cells sourced from Narada's high-volume LFP production and final assembly, certification, and QA performed in North America. The product platforms are modular and scalable: the MPLhE UPS uses a flexible 51.2V module design that scales to multi-cabinet systems, and the NESP platform offers configurable module, rack, and containerized configurations across multiple capacity and C-rate options. Supply-chain and sourcing documentation supporting volume planning is available to procurement under NDA.
